Where Two Hearts Meet is book 2 in the Prince Edward Island Dreams series, written by Liz Johnson. Caden Holt is the chef for Roses Red Door Inn. The Inn is having financial struggles and the father of the Inn owner is causing her problems with receiving the money her mother left her. The owner is notified by a friend that the Inn was chosen to be visited by a report to possibly appear in a spring magazine issue. If this goes through successfully, this will help the Inn. But they do not know who the reporter is.
Meanwhile journalist Adam Jacobs arrives at the Inn a day early for time off to recover from a tragic event. Caden and her boss assume Adam is the reporter coming to check out the Inn for the article. So Caden’s boss asks her to spend time with him and show him the area.
Adam has a habit of walking into the kitchen, which is suppose to be off limits to guests. Caden become comfortable with him being in the kitchen and when he does not show up like normal she misses him.
There is also an underlying story running through the main story. Every year the town had a lobster cook off to find the best lobster dish. Caden gives young people cooking lessons and each of them is required to enter. Caden has also entered many years but she has not won it. She feels she needs to win it this year to keep her job at the inn.
This is a very good book. It is book 2 in the series, but not having read the first one, I was able to follow along with the story very easily. I really enjoyed reading this book. The descriptions of the various parts of the island made me feel like I was there seeing the beaches and sand. I also enjoyed the humor the author has written in with the young people learning to cook.
One of the things that stands out for me in the story is when Adam is struggling with the tragedy he lives with, he talks with another guest. The guest explains to Adam that what helped him was Grace. The other guest explains it’s about being good enough or strong enough. It’s about acknowledging your need for Grace and accepting it.
I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing, this is my honest review.
