Wild Montana Skies is book 2 in the Montana Rescue series written by Susan May Warren. Kacey Fairing is returning home to Mercy Falls, Montana to take a break from her military career to recover emotionally from her tour in Afghanistan. She has taken a job as a helicopter pilot working search and rescue. The area is being devastated with flooding and she is thrown into her new job very quickly.
Ben King has come home to help his aging father after the father is involved in an accident. His father is not accepting his physical limitations very well. His father is also involved in the search and rescue organization Kacey is now working for. With his father’s limitations, Ben steps in to help with rescues.
He and Kacey have a background together and they have not seen each other since they were young. When Ben was in trouble, he turned to Kacey’s father who told Ben to leave town to try to become the music star her dreamed of. Even after all these years, even after Ben has become a big music star, Kacey’s father still believes he did the right thing by keeping Kacey and Ben apart and continues to try to do so.
A church group of young people are stranded with the flooding going on in the area. It quickly becomes know that Kacey’s daughter is among the group. The daughter that she had as a young girl herself. A daughter her parents were raising for her because after realizing she was going to be a single mother, she enlisted in the military to make a living for herself and her daughter.
This is a very good book! I am so glad that Susan has started a new series. I just love her stories. Just like her others, this one has real life type situations focusing on family. The story also has suspense that keeps the story moving and of course romance. The main part in the story that stands out for me is when Kacey is struggling with questions about her life, her friend tells her, “ The only one who can give you the answer to all your questions is God.” Her friend continues to tell her that maybe God brought her home to save her and to redeem her mistakes. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series!
I received a copy of this book from Revell Publishing and I have written an honest review.
