A Servant Like Jesus, by LeeAnn Mancini, is part of the Adventures of the Sea Kids series. Once again we get to visit the Sea Kids at their school. It’s the first day of school at the Fish-Care Cove School. The class room is beautifully decorated with pictures of the alphabet and the students names marking their cubbies. Some of the students struggle with having their parents drop them off. One of these students is Charlie. He hides behind the sink, but when two students get into a disagreement he speaks up. When this happens the teacher asks Charlie to be her helper.
Charlie is able to turn his eyes to see things better and he has 6 legs to carry things. He is a very good helper. While they are at the coral reef gardens, a sudden wave bumped another student into a fire coral. Charlie alerts the teacher and prays to Jesus asking for the other student to not be in pain as well as thanking Jesus that he is not to shy to not help his friend.
When Charlie is at home He reads to his brother and helps his family. He tells them “I am learning how to be brave and how to help everyone. That makes me feel good in my heart. Jesus served everyone and I was to be a servant like Jesus.”
I love this children series! This award-winning series helps children build a strong relationship with Jesus. The series shows how the Sea Kids turn to Jesus in pray, both in asking for help and in thanking Jesus. The story is very good with a good lesson within it. The lesson within this story is one of helping other and getting along with others. The books do not have to read in any certain order.
The short stories are so nicely written with larger font so are easy for the young reader to read. The story is also a good length to read to a very young child. The pictures are very colorful with a fair amount of detail to engage a child in discussion. Each picture also includes a small picture of a bible hidden somewhere. The paper pages have a glossy finish to help keep them clean.
The author, Lee Ann Mancini, is a wife and mother who has devoted her life to being a servant of God. She teaches at a bible college and seminary. The Illustrater, Dan Sharp, has been illistrating children books for over thirty years. He has illustrated for many popular companies as well.
I have received a copy of this book from the author and BookCrash and I have written an honest review.
