Bullied at a young age, David develops a hot temper and needs an outlet to challenge his aggression into. When he learns about his Uncle’s past, David decides to follow in his footsteps and become a champion fighter, but it won’t be an easy journey. Can David live out his dream?
The Angry Fighter’s Story, written by Bill Vincent, is a story of a young man who has been bullied from a young age. As a baby, David Hunter was left on the steps of a boys home with a note saying “Please keep him safe, someone will come for him eventually.” Over the years other boys have been adopted and left the home, but not David. He is now a senior in high school. He continues to be bullied. One day a group of boys ganged up on him and hurt him so bad he was hospitalized. This is when his aunt comes to get him.
The bullying does not end. One day at school he is ganged up on and he lets his anger take over. While his aunt is at the school, he hits a door in her home. The door opens and a poster of a fighter is revealed. When his aunt realizes he saw the room, she tells him about her late husband, who was a fighter. She offers him to train to be a fighter and he accepts. Under the training of his late uncle’s trainer, he not only learns how to fight, but he is also taught good manners.
This is a good clean book, written for a pre-teen boy. There is a considerable amount of violence revolving around the anger within David. The story shows us how David has developed this anger as a result of being placed in the boys home and not getting proper care. But it also shows us the love he is given when his aunt takes him home to be with her. The story also show us how David changes within himself with the training he is receiving. The parts in the story I really liked are when we see the changes in David with making friends. The one thing I wish were different about the book would be more Christian aspects in the story. The only thing that is mentioned is David goes to church and likes it.
The author has been a pastor for over 20 years and has written many books that have helped people overcome the spirits and curses of Satan.
I received a copy of this book from BookCrash and this is my honest review.
