The Sea Keeper’s Daughters written by Lisa Wingate

The Sea Keeper’s Daughters is part of A Carolina Heirloom Novel series, written by Lisa Wingate. Whitney Moore and her cousin Denise are forced to close their second restaurant or lose both restaurants. Whitney receives a message that her step-father has been hospitalized. Even though she does not have a relationship with him since her mother’s death, she goes to check on the situation. While there, she goes through her grandmother’s things to see if there is anything of value she could sell to keep the restaurant. Mixed in with her grandmother’s things are letters from her grandmother’s sister that Whitney never knew about. As she attempts so sell some of her grandmother’s things, she finds out things of her family’s history.

As she goes through this process, she struggles with her step-father and the shop keepers renting the lower level of the building. Whitney is the owner of the building but her step-father is in control of it. As she interacts with the owner of the Rip Shack, Casey, they develop a friendship. He helps her with problems with the building as well as problems with her restaurants.

Even though this is part of a series, it is also a stand alone novel. The story does mention people and places that were mentioned in the first two books.

I like this series. It is a Christian Contemporary Women’s fiction. Just like the previous stories, this one has a second story written within it. I like the mystery written within the story. It kept me wondering what was going to happen and what Whitney was going to find out next. I like that the story shows us how we can misunderstand others when we do not take the time to get to know them or communicate with them.
