Mind Games by Nancy Mehl

Mind Games is the beginning of a new series, Kaely Quinn Profiler by Nancy Mehl. If this book is any indication, this is going to be a great series. This story is so full of action and suspense. While listed as Romantic Suspense, the romance is so mild and takes a back seat to the story.

Kaely Quinn is a profiler with the FBI that is very good at what she does. She sits down at a table and imagines having a conversation with the suspect. She typically gets great results and helps solve the crimes. But this time, the suspect is after Kaely and copies other crimes that she or someone she works with has been involved in. Together Kaely, her co workers with the St. Louis division and the FBI work to find the killer before more people are killed.

This is a great fast paced story. The thing I like about this story is with God’s help Kaely has able to move past what her father did and help others. I feel anyone who enjoys suspenseful crime stories will really enjoy this story.

I received this book as a gift from the author. I was not required to write a review.

Speed of Sight by C. R. Flamingbush

Speed of Sight: A Superhero Adventure, by C.R. Flamingbush, is a fantasy story written for young teens. This story focuses on Pete, a 12 year old boy who was given an illegal comic book to hide, but read it instead. Pete is faced with dealing with bullies as well as having a father walk away from the family. Having read the comic book, his life takes on changes. He develops super powers of great sight and amazing fast speed.

This book has a lot of action and many good lessons within it. A couple that stand out to me are when Pete meets the cartoonist king and asks for help. “Hi, I’m Pete, and I make a lot of mistakes. My life is a mess. Can you help me?” Another is when Pete realizes defeating villains requires beating the evil spirit first. This story teaches lessons of faith and doing good. This is a story for older children and younger teens.

Chosen People, by Robert Whitlow, is an outstanding modern day legal thriller. This is a very suspenseful legal drama that covers Atlanta and Israel. Even while being surrounded with danger, Hana and Daud develop a relationship. And with the attack on Jakob, that left him unable to drive, he become friends with a very aggressive driver.

The Liberty Bride by MaryLu Tyndall

The Liberty Bride, by MaryLu Tyndall is book 6 in The Daughters of the Mayflower. Set off the Coast of Virginia during 1814, this story focuses on Emeline and Owen, two American passengers on a British ship claiming loyalty to England during the War of 1812. From a very young age, Emeline has been caring for others. She has lived with a relative in England until their passing. Now she on on her way home to America when the ship is taken over. To remain safe, she claims loyalty to England, yet nurses the injured and sick regardless of their loyalties.

The main characters struggle with their Christian faith. Emeline was raise to believe God loves those who do good things, Owen is the son of a minister who never met his father’s expectations. While traveling on land, acting as spies for England they come upon a family that are victims of the British Army. The father is a minister who dies from his injuries. While mourning, his wife clings to her faith and the Holy Spirit’s reminder that God is always with her and will never leave her. Emeline and Owen are able to learn the truth of God’s love.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I enjoyed the author’s description of the sea air and being on the ship. This is a nice addition to the Daughters of the Mayflower series. While this is a series, each of the books are stand alone stories that take place during important times in our history. The only thing connecting these stories is the Lytton family connection.

Who I Am With You by Robin Lee Hatcher

Who I Am With You is the first book in A Legacy of Faith Novel series by Robin Lee Hatcher. This book is a combination of a modern day story of two people, Jessica and Ridley are neighbors, struggling to move forward with their lives and a young couple, Jessica’s great grandparents, who struggle with their marriage, finances and family life during the depression.

This is such a heartwarming story of strength, courage and restoring faith. One of the things that stands out the most in my mind of this story is when Jessica tells Ridley that even through they are going through tough times, there are others that are having it so much harder. While Ridley is searching for how to move on with his life, this comment means so much to him. While Jessica is trying to move on after the death of her husband and daughter, she finds hope by reading her great-grandfather’s bible.

I really enjoyed this story, the message is so clear through the whole story. The story covers topics of broken marriages, restoring an unfaithful marriage, death of family members and false accusations. The characters of the story are so strong. I feel anyone who enjoys contemporary Christian fiction will really enjoy this story.

I received a copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through BookLook Bloggers. This is my honest review.
