Finding Lady Enderly, by Joanna Davidson Politano

cover-spot

Being created in God’s image means we bear traces of him. He is our truest identity.

-Diary of a Substitute Countess

Finding Lady Enderly, by Joanna Davidson Politano, is a Christian Romance based in England in the 1870’s. Raina is a rag woman in London who is offered a chance at a better life. She has been offered to move to Rothburne Abbey and pretend to be the countess to give the real countess the chance to rest after her travels and hectic life. She is told if she does not like the Abbey, but quickly finds out that is not true.

This is a nice historical romance that is well written with well developed characters. The amount of characters grows as the story is told, but they are slowly introduced to keep track of the main ones. This is a fast paced story that is filled with suspense and danger. The chapters start with parts from the Diary of a Substitute Countess, a diary Raina is writing. I especially enjoyed those of her thought on real beauty and her understanding of God.

I would highly recommend this story to those who enjoy historical fiction.

Cold Aim by Janice Cantore

cold-aim-2-533x800.jpg

Cold Aim, by Janie Cantore, is book three in the Line of Duty series. This book is awesome! The characters are well defined, following through from the previous two books in the series. The story is well told and very believable. The story is full of action and suspense.

Rogue Hollow is suffering from a terrible fire when the FBI asks for one of their witnesses in a high profile case to be kept there for safety. When the witness sneaks into town and is seen by one of the extra workers in the area, her cover is blown. The person after her will stop at nothing to get her. The small local law enforcement are working around the clock to stop him.

The romance between Police Chief Tess O’Rourke and Pastor Oliver Macpherson is questioned by some of his parishioners, and even themselves. Friends don’t think they are a good match, that they are like oil and water. So they have to work to prove friends wrong.

I have enjoyed this whole series. The stories are written so good, with enough background information, that they do not have to be read in order to follow. The author is a retired police officer, and it shows in the realistic stories that she writes. This one focuses on human trafficking and contains numerous murders and several different crimes needing to be solved. I enjoyed how the internet and hacking is used as a mean for finding information. I appreciate the Christian aspect to the story as well. It is light and not preachy. Tess’s father was quick to turn to prayer in times of difficulties, and this is something she is learning. I would highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys police stories.

I received this book as part of a fellow bloggers give away. I was not required to write a review.

Vow of Justice by Lynette Eason

mail (2)

Vow of Justice, by Lynette Eason, is book four in the Blue Justice series. This series follows the St. John family through crime situations. The book is written so that it works as a stand alone story as well. But it is so good, you will want to go back and read the whole series. This book is about FBI agent Linc and his partner Allison.

This story takes off with the first page and doesn’t stop until the end. There is so much action within the story, it is hard to find a place to put the book down. While the author had help from real agents with writing this book, some of the parts were a little hard to believe. The book is also full of suspense. It is easy to think someone in the agency is connected to the bad guys with how the trouble finds Allison where ever she goes. Even with all the injuries she sustains and others believe she has been killed, she keeps working to find the bad guys.

I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys crime stories. There is romance in the story between the partners, but it does not over power the story.

A Glitter of Gold by Liz Johnson

mail (1).jpg

A Glitter of Gold, by Liz Johnson, is book two in the Georgia Coast Romance series. I did not realize it was book 2 in the series when I requested it or when I read it. So even though it is part of a series, it stands alone nicely.

Anne moved to Georgia to start a new life. She runs a pirate-tour business that is not doing well. Following a storm she walks the beach and finds part of a sword. She takes it to the museum that Carter is in charge of and finds out it was on a ship that sunk 250 years earlier. Most people do not believe there was really a ship that sank. So it is up to her and Carter to find proof of the sunken ship and get the funding to search for it.

This is a good clean Christian romance story. There is a message of forgiveness and trust, but not in a preachy way. I enjoyed having two separate stories blending together to make this story, one a diary from the sunken ship and the other modern day. I also enjoyed the healing of distant family relationships as the story moved on.

I received a copy of this book from Revell Reads Blog Tour Program. This is my honest review.

Deadly Intentions by Lisa Harris

mail (3)

Deadly Intentions by Lisa Harris is a stand alone Romantic Suspense Christian novel. Detective Josh Solomon’s wife was killed in a supposed home invasion. Now months later, he receives a call from her co-worker and friend Caitlyn. Two other co-workers have died recently and Caitlyn feels the deaths are connected to a project they all worked on. And now she is being targeted. When Josh brings this to his superior he is told to take a vacation and forget about the deaths. Instead Josh and Caitlyn work together to find out the truth behinds the deaths.

This is a fantastic crime story. The story is full of action and suspense right from the beginning. The writing is so clear, it is easy to envision what is happening. The characters are well defined, with strong faith and Christian beliefs that get them through the struggles they are forced into. Yet, the story is not preachy to turn off the reader. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys good, clean “who done it”crime stories.

The Yellow Lantern by Angie Dicken

42794577.jpg

The Yellow Lantern, by Angie Dicken, is part of the True Colors series by Barbour Publishing. Set in 1824 in Massachusetts, Josephine is considered dead and buried. Her body is dug up by body snatchers and it is discovered she is actually alive. After recovering from illness she is taken away to work in a cotton mill to watch for people who are dying or have died. She has to help the network secure bodies to replace herself. She despises having to do this, but she has to, to save her father.

Josephine was taught how to use healing herbs and plants by her mother. With accidents happening at the mill, she automatically tends to the injured. She builds a friendship with the manager of the mill and quickly gets a name for herself as being able to help heal people.

This is an interesting book to read. I enjoyed the suspense and the twists and turns the story takes. The author did wonderful job of telling this story to help the reader know about events that really happened in the 19th century. Grave robbing was common during the 19th century for medical research. With the lack of medical knowledge, people were sometimes thought to be dead when they were not.

This is part of a series, but is a stand alone story. The stories are written by different authors with different events and characters.

I received a complimentary copy of this from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

The Healing Jar by Wanda E. Brunstetter

42794460._SY475_

The Prayer Jar is book three in the Healing Jars series by Wanda E. Brunstetter. This story focuses on Lenore Lapp. Lenore has moved in with her grandparents to help care for her ailing grandfather when she is not teaching. She is starting to feel she will never marry.

Jesse Smucker moves to the area after the death of his young wife. Needing someone to care for his young daughter while he works, he turns to Lenore. He desperately loves his wife but knows he should marry so his daughter has a mother.

I love this series. They are good clean stories with good messages written in them. The stories include jars that hold papers someone has written, that are prayers or scripture, to help them lean on God. And now the readers, the three young women, are helped by reading these papers. While each of the stories are good stand alone stories, they should be read in order to follow along. The girls from each of the previous stories appear in this story as well.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Barbour Publishing and was under no obligation to post a review.

Travane by M. D. Schlatter

travane-cover2.jpg

It is the condition of our hearts He cares about. In His eyes, no one is greater or less than the other – except in the condition of his or her heart.

Travane, by M. D. Schlatter, is a fantasy story. Rayna is the youngest child of the leader of the country Travane. She is anticipating her Coming of Age Ceremony but things happen to put it off. She studies Theology with Jeroha. One day he tells her they must meet in the Santuary. While there she is engulfed in purple and blue, The Divine has chosen her to be a Settling. The area has not had a Settling for many years. But Jeroha has troubling news for her. CherRio Nikalon is coming to their country and expected her hand in marriage, or there will be war.

She is to go on a journey with Nikalon. As she is getting ready to leave, her mother tells her that what ever truth she may find, to remember her mother loved her from the moment she saw her, to never doubt that she is her daughter. Rayna takes a friend, Oneve, on the journey. Oneve has had her Coming of Age Ceremony and has been interviewing for a husband. But it is Nikalon she has fallen for.

This is an interesting, well written story that has many good lessons. The story is fast paced with a lot of action. The author does a wonderful job of teaching Bible truths within this story. The author also includes the history of Travane and explanations of the different titles. This story is written for young adults that will be enjoyed by adults as well.
