The English Daughter, by Cindy and Erin Woodsmall, is the story of the Amish Graber family. A year earlier Roy and their daughter were in a buggy accident that left him addicted to pain pills. At the same time Jemima was expecting their baby and needed complete rest. While Jemima and the children were at her parents, Roy was trying to keep their horse farm going. One night an English neighbor was having issues and Roy went to help. Not long after he was told her fathered a child with her. Now months later he has spend all their saving on the neighbor and child and she is demanding more as she leaves the child with friends and leaves the area. When Jemima finds a food wagon she wants to buy with the savings, Roy has to tell her what has happened.
This was a wonderful story to read. The story deals with a troubled marriage, forgiveness and moving on. This was a very easy story to read, hard to put down and left me wanting the story to keep going.
While the main part of the story is Roy and Jemima’s, there is also the story of Roy’s sister and his helping hand.
I received uncorrected copy of this story from the Waterbrook Multnomah publishing company as part of the launch program, this is my honest review.
