It’s a Jungle in Here by Kristie Wilde

God is especially happy

with how He made you!”

It’s a Jungle in Here is book 3 in the Joyful Creation Series by Kristie Wilde. The story is written in short sentences for the young read or listener. The author tells a story of the different animals God has made in the jungle and how they all are different. Some are loud, some are quiet. Some are big, some are small. But since God loves variety, he was pleased with them all.

The story itself is just 20 pages and is built around Genesis 1:21 and Genesis 1:25. . This is a thin paperback for young children with beautiful pictures of different animals you might find in the jungle. The pictures are so beautiful and life like with a lot of detail they will captures the attention of all ages. It also has two pages at the end of the story that gives additional information about the animals for the older child who wants to learn more. I think this is a great short story to help teach children of God’s animals. I think the young child and reader will enjoy this book.

I received a copy of this book from the author through BookCrash book review program. This is my honest review.

Just Claire

Just Claire by Jean Ann Williams is a story of the Monteiro family. The father has just moved his family to be with him working a temporary job when his wife goes into labor. The couple have chosen to have home births when this birth brings about complications that takes them to the hospital. They leave the older children behind with Claire being in charge of taking care of them. With needing to go to school, Clair takes the youngest sibling with them. But when her mother finally comes home from the hospital, she is forced to leave the little girl home.

Clair’s mother struggles with mental illness and the birth of the new baby has brought this to the surface once again. So when Clair should be enjoying time with friends, she is running a home and caring for her younger sibling. Clair is also struggling with wanting to fit in a popular group in her new school.

This is a great story that is meant for children 12 to 18 years of age. As an adult I also enjoyed this story a lot. The story focuses on family, friendships and community helping others. One of the things that stands out to me in this story is that Clair would win the competition of writing about the area with the short time she was at the school.

Imagine: The Ten Plaques by Matt Koceich

The Ten plaques

We may have a lifetime of bullies, but we have to remember that God is always with us and He never leaves our side. He’ll protect us and help us stand up to them.”

Imagine: The Ten Plaques, by Matt Koceich, is the second book in a new adventure series for children between the ages of 8 and 12. This is such a great series. I would highly recommend it for families for their children. There are not a lot of good clean stories for children that teach the life lessons this series does in such an adventuresome way. The story does reference parts of the Old Testament.

Fourth grader, Kai Wells is being bullied at school when all of a sudden she finds herself sent back in time. She finds herself in Egypt at the time of the ten plagues. She witnesses the insane insect invasion that seem to avoid her, as well as the other plaques. She also witnesses the Israelites fleeing through a wall of water before she returned to modern day. The adventures she had in Egypt taught her how to deal with the bullying she was going through.

Little Critter Little Blessings Collection by Mercer Mayer

Little Critter Little Blessings Collection, by Mercer Mayer, contains four stories to help teach children how to treat others, how to be thankful for what they have, to not lie and to forgive others and ask for forgiveness.

You Go First: Little Critter always wants to be first. His teacher explains to him that having fun isn’t about being first, it’s about enjoying time with others. She tells the class that the God wants us to treat others as we want to be treated.

It’s True!: Little Critter has a tendency to not tell the complete truth. He leads his classmates to believe his grandfather has a real bi-plane and they all want to ride in it. Not knowing how to tell them it is just a model plane, he decides to run away. His grandfather picks him up and teaches him that God tells us the truth will set you free. If you are not truthful, you will not be happy.

Being Thankful: Little Critter is always wanting what he does not have. His father tries to tell him others would be happy with what he has. After spending the night at his Grandparents, his grandfather gives him a thankful rock to carry him his pocket to help remind him to praise God for all he has.

We All Need Forgiveness: Little Critter makes mistakes and hopes others will forgive him, but he is not forgiving to others. His friends get mad at him and his mother explains to him everyone needs to forgive each other, just as God forgives us.

This book is such a great book to help teach younger children basic life lessons about getting along with others and being thankful. Little Critter has been a long time favorite. The stories are easy to read and fun for little ones. These stories are written for preschoolers through third grade. The pictures are cute and colorful with lots of details. This is a hard covered book with regular pages, so could be damaged by the very young child. I think this book would be enjoyed by all little ones and their parents, especially the parents that grew up with Little Critter.

Ten Little Night Stars, written by Deb Gruelle, Illustrated by Gabi Murphy

Ten Light Night Stars, written by Deb Gruelle and illustrated by Gabi Murphy, is such a cute book for little ones. Recommended for children 4 to 8 years of age, I feel even the younger child will enjoy this book. This book is a beautifully illustrated board book with a soft front cover. With Love, From Me to You – Written by Mary Manz Simon, Illustrated by Corinna Ice

We feel God’s love inside us

when we show that we care,

by helping and forgiving

and showing how to share.”

With Love From Me to You is a hard covered board book written by Mary Mans Simon. The book is beautifully illustrated by Corinna Ice, who uses her heart and brush to paint the world. This is one of the cutest little books! The Polar Bear mailman is driving a train and delivering letters with red hearts to the little animals in the story. The story helps teach little children the lesson of showing others that they love them. Children can show others kindness by saying hi, by showing kindness to some one who is crying and to remind some one who is angry, that God loves them. Children can give kindness every day of the year to those far and near. And when they get a blessing, they know that God loves them.

This is a very cute book for little children. I just love the pictures in this book. They are so cute and colorful. Little children will enjoy picking out the different little animals and following the train through the story. They will also enjoy finding all the hearts in the pictures. With just 18 pages, it is the perfect length to hold a little one’s attention

This easy to read story for the early reader. Written in rhyme, it will be fun to read to little children. This is a very durable book that will last a long time. The cover and pages are shiny to help keep it clean.

God Bless My Family is written by Hannah C. Hall and illustrated by Steven Whitlow. This is an adorable cushioned, hard covered, board book that shows us puppies with their families having fun. The families enjoy a day at the beach, snuggle together, play together, go for walks, tell stories, and bake together. Really Woolly Christmas Blessings by Bonnie Rickner Jensen, Illustrated by Donna Chapman

Really Woolly Christmas Blessings is written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Donna Chapman. The book contains 18 sections that are titled “The Blessing of”. These blessing include Jesus and the things associated with his birth as well as different things we include in our Christmas traditions. Each of the 18 sections is made up of a bible verse, a poem and end with a short prayer.

This is a hard covered board book that is very durable for young children. The pages contain brightly colored pictures and are easy to clean. There are little animals that follow through the story for children to point to. The little lamb, bunny, duck and chipmunks are really adorable.

This is a cute story book for older toddlers. Being a board book I expected to see more pictures and less words. With the 8 lined poems on each pages, this book really is not a story book to read through at one sitting for the youngest children. With the sections ending in prayers, this is a good book to help young children learn to pray to God. I think this book could be used to introduce per-schoolers to devotional time.
