God Bless My Family, written by Hannah C. Hall, Illustrated by Steve Whitlow

_225_350_Book.2428.cover

“ From uncles and aunts to grandparents,

We’re each so glad to be

A special part of one big heart-

God bless my whole family!”

God Bless My Family is written by Hannah C. Hall and illustrated by Steven Whitlow. This is an adorable cushioned, hard covered, board book that shows us puppies with their families having fun. The families enjoy a day at the beach, snuggle together, play together, go for walks, tell stories, and bake together. The pictures in this book are so beautiful and colorful, they will keep the youngest of child interested for some time.

I just love this little children’s book. It is very durable and easy to clean, to keep it nice longer. This book is the perfect length to read to a young child. The story is told in rhyme and the font is larger than normal for the young reader. The beautiful pictures have little things such as apples, balls, and birds for little children to pick out. This is a book that I feel any family with young children of all ages will enjoy. This book would make a wonderful Christmas gift.

Really Woolly Christmas Blessings by Bonnie Rickner Jensen, Illustrated by Donna Chapman

_225_350_Book.2368.cover

Really Woolly Christmas Blessings is written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Donna Chapman. The book contains 18 sections that are titled “The Blessing of”. These blessing include Jesus and the things associated with his birth as well as different things we include in our Christmas traditions. Each of the 18 sections is made up of a bible verse, a poem and end with a short prayer.

This is a hard covered board book that is very durable for young children. The pages contain brightly colored pictures and are easy to clean. There are little animals that follow through the story for children to point to. The little lamb, bunny, duck and chipmunks are really adorable.

This is a cute story book for older toddlers. Being a board book I expected to see more pictures and less words. With the 8 lined poems on each pages, this book really is not a story book to read through at one sitting for the youngest children. With the sections ending in prayers, this is a good book to help young children learn to pray to God. I think this book could be used to introduce per-schoolers to devotional time.

Imagine: The Great Flood by Matt Kociech

images (3)

Imagine: The Great Flood, written by Matt Koceich, is a story of a 10 year old boy, Corey, who is struggling with having to move from Texas to Florida for his father’s job. One day while chasing his dog in the woods, he falls and hits his head. He wakes up in Mesopotamia in 2400 B.C.

While in Mesopotamia he meets up with Noah’s sons who are rounding up animals to take them to the ark. While they are getting the animals they are being chased by superhumans. Corey prays to God for help and thinks about his home in Texas. He realizes that worrying about moving to Florida was not something to complain about.

This is a juvenile fiction book for children 8 to 12 years of age. The author takes the story of Noah’s Ark from the Bible and builds on it to make this action packed story. It is so full of adventure that it will keep the readers interest to the very end. I like how Corey spends time thinking of his home situations while he is running from the superhumans brings out the theme of forgiveness and faith in God and His love for us. I think any young reader, especially boys, would really enjoy this book.

A Very Thankful Prayer written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Natalia Moore

_225_350_Book.2327.cover

I’m thankful for the seasons.

And I’m thankful God made fall.

But for His love that fills the earth.

I’m thankful most of all!”

A Very Thankful Prayer is written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Natalia Moore. This is a cute hard cover board book written for young children. With adorable pictures of little animals, the author tells a story in poem of the different things the animals are thankful for. The animals are thankful for their warm clothing and cozy fire. They are thankful for the apples, pumpkins and the food the farmers grow. And they are thankful for their friends to play with and their family to spend time with and share bear hugs.

I just love Bonnie Rickner Jensen’s books. They are so fun to read to the young child. I enjoy how she writes a story that is easy for the child to understand. The pictures are so cute! The pictures have a wide variety of animals in them as well as things in nature to help the little one learn.

With just 24 pages this is the perfect length to hold a young child’s attention. The book is a good size for little ones to hold and the pages are nice and stiff so little ones can help turn pages. This would be a great book for a young child to teach them about fall and Thanksgiving.

Night Night, Train by Amy Parker, illustrated by Virginia Allyn

9780718089320.jpg.1488230980

God’s creation all around-

He cares for us, big and small.

We rest peacefully knowing that

His hands hold it all.

Night Night, Train is written by Amy Parker and illustrated by Virginia Allyn. This is an adorable little bedtime story using cute animals and a train to help relax little ones. The story follows a puppy family as they get their tickets and ride the train to Sleepytown on the night night train. They get their seats and have a yummy dinner. They read their favorite book and get ready for bed before saying their prayer and going to sleep.

I really like this book. I love Amy Parker’s stories for children. The illustrator of this book has done an awesome job with adorable colorful pictures that will get even a baby’s attention. I like that the little mouse and little red train are in many pictures so little ones can look for them. It is written for ages 3 to 5, but I feel any child that likes trains will enjoy this book.

This is an adorable little book, just perfect for the young child. With cute pictures and rhyming poems, it will help relax the little one to help them fall asleep. The size of this book is the perfect size for little ones to hold and with just 20 pages, the perfect length to read to them. The soft cover and hard pages are shiny and durable to last a long time and is easy to wipe off.

The Berenstain Bears: Bless Our Gramps & Gran by Mike Berenstain

_233_380_Book.2301.cover

Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” – Proverbs 17:6

The Berenstain Bears: Bless Our Gramps & Gran is part of the Living Lights series, written by Mike Berenstain. The cubs have just returned to school for the school year, when they find themselves gloomy on a rainy afternoon. They are gloomy because they have homework. Papa tries to cheer them up mentioning Halloween, but that is two months away. Papa tells them there is a very important holiday just a few days away. He tells the cubs Grandparent’s day is the Sunday after Labor Day.

The family talks about all the things the cubs do with their grandparents, like fishing and going for walks. They talk about the things the grandparents have made for the cubs. One of those things is a Noah’s Ark play set. The cubs decide to make a very special gift for their grandparents. They write a story of Noah and his wife and grandchildren.

This is a cute story. I really like how the story shows how the family researched Noah’s family and how the cubs show the family. It shows Japheth with his wife and children, Ham with his wife and children and Shem with his wife and children. The cubs have also given Noah and his wife 16 granddaughters to go with their 16 grandsons that are mentioned in the Bible.

I also like the suggestions at the end of the book of things to do to celebrate Grandparents Day. My children loved Berenstain Bears when they were young and I look forward to sharing this book with my grandchildren. I think this is a great book, and series, for families with young children.

God’s Easter Miracles by Lee Ann Mancini

gods-easter-miracles-cover-240x200

God gave me an Easter miracle – a changed heart! I know Jesus gave up his life for us because He loves us. I want to be like Jesus.”

God’s Easter Miracles, written by Lee Ann Mancini, is part of the multi-award winning Adventures of the Sea Kids series. It’s Easter Sunday and the Sea Kids are at Sunday School. The teacher, Miss Linda has hidden Easter eggs on the church playground. Three of the eggs have a cross on them. Who ever finds those eggs get to chose a prize.

Paul is one of Miss Linda’s favorite students. He has autism and has a hard time learning but he is always happy. Paul doesn’t think it is fair that he did not find an egg with a cross on it. Miss Linda explains to him that it is also not fair that Jesus gave His life for our sins.

Brian has come to class late and very sad. His younger brother, Lenny, was hit by a boat propeller and is seriously hurt. Pastor Jerry asks the class to pray for Lenny. During the week the entire town gathers at the Beneath the Sea Play Park to pray for Lenny.

I really love this series! This is a great series for parents and teacher to help teach children about Jesus’s love for us. It also helps teach children the importance of prayer. This story teaches children the importance of praying for others who are hurt. This story also has one of the student pray to have Jesus come into his life. Each of the stories has important messages within them. One of the messages in this story is that Jesus gave his life for us so that we may have life. Another lesson in this story is giving and sharing with others, such as when the students make get-well cards for Lenny and visit him.

This story is so nicely written and easy for the young read to read. It also is a good length to read to younger children. The pictures are so colorful and detailed, they make it easy to talk with little ones about them. Each of the pictures has a fish symbol hidden in it for children to have fun looking for. This is a great story to read and interact with children. This durable, hard covered book has a glossy finish on the cover and the pictures to help keep clean.

The author, Lee Ann Mancini, is a wife and mother who has devoted her life to being a servant of God. She teaches at a Bible college and seminary. The illustrator, Dan Sharp, has been illustrating children books for over thirty years.

I have received a copy of this book from the author and BookCrash. I have freely written an honest review.
