An Easter Prayer by Amy Parker, Illustrated by Alison Edgson

An Easter Prayer by Amy Parker and illustrated by Alison Edgson is an adorable touch and feel book to help teach little children about the new life of spring. Amy Parker has written another wonderful story for children, this one to teach them to be thankful.

This is an adorable book for families with little ones. It is a sturdy board book with cute brightly colored pictures. The story helps to teach little ones to be thankful for all things, especially Jesus. With just twelve pages, this book is a good length for little ones. Each set of pages includes a cut out with a different texture insert for little children to touch and feel. With textures like, bunny’s fur, chick’s feather, a smooth egg, velvety soft tulip, and the shiny ray of God’s love, the child will enjoy this book for a long time. For the child that likes to look for things within the pages, they will be able to follow the bunny, chick and little bee through out the entire story.

This would make a great Easter gift for a young child.

Really Woolly Christmas Blessings by Bonnie Rickner Jensen, Illustrated by Donna Chapman

Really Woolly Christmas Blessings is written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Donna Chapman. The book contains 18 sections that are titled “The Blessing of”. These blessing include Jesus and the things associated with his birth as well as different things we include in our Christmas traditions. Each of the 18 sections is made up of a bible verse, a poem and end with a short prayer.

This is a hard covered board book that is very durable for young children. The pages contain brightly colored pictures and are easy to clean. There are little animals that follow through the story for children to point to. The little lamb, bunny, duck and chipmunks are really adorable.

This is a cute story book for older toddlers. Being a board book I expected to see more pictures and less words. With the 8 lined poems on each pages, this book really is not a story book to read through at one sitting for the youngest children. With the sections ending in prayers, this is a good book to help young children learn to pray to God. I think this book could be used to introduce per-schoolers to devotional time.

A Very Thankful Prayer written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Natalia Moore

I’m thankful for the seasons.

And I’m thankful God made fall.

But for His love that fills the earth.

I’m thankful most of all!”

A Very Thankful Prayer is written by Bonnie Rickner Jensen and illustrated by Natalia Moore. This is a cute hard cover board book written for young children. With adorable pictures of little animals, the author tells a story in poem of the different things the animals are thankful for. The animals are thankful for their warm clothing and cozy fire. They are thankful for the apples, pumpkins and the food the farmers grow. And they are thankful for their friends to play with and their family to spend time with and share bear hugs.

I just love Bonnie Rickner Jensen’s books. They are so fun to read to the young child. I enjoy how she writes a story that is easy for the child to understand. The pictures are so cute! The pictures have a wide variety of animals in them as well as things in nature to help the little one learn.

With just 24 pages this is the perfect length to hold a young child’s attention. The book is a good size for little ones to hold and the pages are nice and stiff so little ones can help turn pages. This would be a great book for a young child to teach them about fall and Thanksgiving.

The Berenstain Bears: Bless Our Gramps & Gran by Mike Berenstain

Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.” – Proverbs 17:6

The Berenstain Bears: Bless Our Gramps & Gran is part of the Living Lights series, written by Mike Berenstain. The cubs have just returned to school for the school year, when they find themselves gloomy on a rainy afternoon. They are gloomy because they have homework. Papa tries to cheer them up mentioning Halloween, but that is two months away. Papa tells them there is a very important holiday just a few days away. He tells the cubs Grandparent’s day is the Sunday after Labor Day.

The family talks about all the things the cubs do with their grandparents, like fishing and going for walks. They talk about the things the grandparents have made for the cubs. One of those things is a Noah’s Ark play set. The cubs decide to make a very special gift for their grandparents. They write a story of Noah and his wife and grandchildren.

This is a cute story. I really like how the story shows how the family researched Noah’s family and how the cubs show the family. It shows Japheth with his wife and children, Ham with his wife and children and Shem with his wife and children. The cubs have also given Noah and his wife 16 granddaughters to go with their 16 grandsons that are mentioned in the Bible.

I also like the suggestions at the end of the book of things to do to celebrate Grandparents Day. My children loved Berenstain Bears when they were young and I look forward to sharing this book with my grandchildren. I think this is a great book, and series, for families with young children.

God’s Easter Miracles by Lee Ann Mancini

God gave me an Easter miracle – a changed heart! I know Jesus gave up his life for us because He loves us. I want to be like Jesus.”

God’s Easter Miracles, written by Lee Ann Mancini, is part of the multi-award winning Adventures of the Sea Kids series. It’s Easter Sunday and the Sea Kids are at Sunday School. The teacher, Miss Linda has hidden Easter eggs on the church playground. Three of the eggs have a cross on them. Who ever finds those eggs get to chose a prize.

Paul is one of Miss Linda’s favorite students. He has autism and has a hard time learning but he is always happy. Paul doesn’t think it is fair that he did not find an egg with a cross on it. Miss Linda explains to him that it is also not fair that Jesus gave His life for our sins.

Brian has come to class late and very sad. His younger brother, Lenny, was hit by a boat propeller and is seriously hurt. Pastor Jerry asks the class to pray for Lenny. During the week the entire town gathers at the Beneath the Sea Play Park to pray for Lenny.

I really love this series! This is a great series for parents and teacher to help teach children about Jesus’s love for us. It also helps teach children the importance of prayer. This story teaches children the importance of praying for others who are hurt. This story also has one of the student pray to have Jesus come into his life. Each of the stories has important messages within them. One of the messages in this story is that Jesus gave his life for us so that we may have life. Another lesson in this story is giving and sharing with others, such as when the students make get-well cards for Lenny and visit him.

This story is so nicely written and easy for the young read to read. It also is a good length to read to younger children. The pictures are so colorful and detailed, they make it easy to talk with little ones about them. Each of the pictures has a fish symbol hidden in it for children to have fun looking for. This is a great story to read and interact with children. This durable, hard covered book has a glossy finish on the cover and the pictures to help keep clean.

The author, Lee Ann Mancini, is a wife and mother who has devoted her life to being a servant of God. She teaches at a Bible college and seminary. The illustrator, Dan Sharp, has been illustrating children books for over thirty years.

I have received a copy of this book from the author and BookCrash. I have freely written an honest review.

Lots of Love by Kim Washburn

I climb in bed for tuck-in. This day has been the best. I got love and I gave it too, and now it’s time to rest.”

Lots of Love by Kim Washburn is a hard covered, board book that follows a young girl from when she wakes up Valentine’s morning through her day. She spends time playing with a little dog and snuggling with her mommy. He daddy takes her to school where she helps clean up, spends time with her friends, and makes a glittery heart that she gives her teacher. When she gets home she tells her family she loves them.

This is a very cute Valentine’s Day story for the preschooler and young reader. I like how the story follows this little girl through her day as she helps others, gives and receives love from her family, friends and teacher. As well as how it explains that God is who gives us what we have and how much he loves us.

Being a board book, this is a very durable book for the younger child but an older child may find this a little childish. The pages are brightly colored pictures of children, animals and adults in varying scenes such as out doors, in school and at home. The story is written in rhyme and teaches those reading and listening to the book about the love shared between family and friends. This is the perfect book to spend time snuggling and reading with a younger child.
