Catching Heat is the third book in the Cold Case Justice series by Janice Cantore. Abby has joined Luke and Woody on a newly formed cold case task force. They have been sent to San Luis Obispo to work on an old case when they realize they are near the town where the Governor’s wife, Alyssa, grew up. Abby suspects Alyssa is responsible for her parents’ and Luke’s uncle’s deaths. The trio have also been asked to find a missing man who killed his children and injured his wife many years earlier.
Like the other two books in this series, this one is fast moving and full of suspense. I like how the author has kept the story line going through all three books. And how the characters’ friendships have grown. I like that the author have kept the same characters for the most part but she has added more as the story went along. The characters are so well introduced it is easy to remember how they fit into the story. The story is a Christian romance suspense story, but the romance is not overwhelming, this is a good clean story. I appreciate how the author uses the way Luke and Abby live to bring others to Christ. They are not preachy but rather very respectful toward others. I have really enjoyed reading this series and of the adventures of Luke and Abby as they try to find the person responsible for the Triple Seven murders and fire.
